El instante Masats

Hace 14 años, abríamos las puertas de la galería con una exposición, “Ramón Masats. Color”, protagonizada por uno de nuestros autores más queridos. Su elección no fue casual, sino toda una declaración de intenciones sobre el rumbo que aspiraba a transitar la galería, el de la mejor fotografía contemporánea nacional e internacional.
Durante el confinamiento de marzo, que nos obligó a mantener la galería cerrada al público, decidimos seguir virtualmente en contacto con nuestros amigos y seguidores y, entre otras exposiciones online, dedicamos la muestra “El instante Masats” a este gran maestro que, a sus 89 años, acaba de recibir un nuevo y merecido galardón: el Premio Internacional de Alcobendas 2020. Con esta exposición participamos en la edición virtual de PhotoEspaña.
Ahora, con la sala de nuevo abierta y activa, entre grandes medidas de seguridad sanitaria como exige el momento, hemos querido transformar en presencial aquella exhibición que todavía se puede ver en nuestra página web. A las fotos de entonces, hemos añadido nuevas imágenes, algunas todavía inéditas, otras vintage e, incluso, rarezas en color pocas veces mostradas.
La contundente mirada de Ramón Masats nos convierte en testigos de una realidad ya pasada, fotografiada con el lenguaje libre, intuitivo y carente de artificios con el que este gran maestro nos ha deleitado en las distintas épocas que han definido su trayectoria artística. Masats vuelve a sorprendernos con una nueva colección de instantes decisivos en los que nos muestra, una vez más, el talento y la inteligencia que siempre han caracterizado su labor fotográfica, transgresores encuadres que nos sitúan frente a una voluntad discursiva certera y provista de un enorme sentido del humor frente al complejo movimiento de la vida.
14 years ago, we opened the gallery with an exhibition, “Ramón Masats. Colour”, presenting one of our most dear authors. Our choice was not accidental, but rather a statement of intentions showing which direction the gallery wanted to pursue, it is, the best national and international contemporary photography.
During the lockdown in March that forced us to keep the gallery closed to the public, we decided to remain in virtual contact with our friends and followers. Among other online exhibitions, we presented the show «El Instante Masats» honoring this great master who, at 89 years old, has just received a new and deserved award: the Alcobendas 2020 International Prize. Presenting this exhibition, we participated in the virtual edition of PhotoEspaña this year.
Now, that the gallery is open and fully functioning again, with great health security measures as required by the time we are living, we wanted to transform the online exhibition into a face-to-face one, though, the online show goes still on at our website. We have added new images to the ones we already selected, some still unpublished, others vintage and even rare color prints hardly ever shown.
The forceful gaze of Ramón Masats makes us witnesses of a reality that has already passed, photographed with the free, intuitive and natural language that this great teacher used to delight us in the different times that have defined his artistic career. Masats surprises us once again with a new collection of significant moments in which he shows us the talent and intelligence that have always characterized his photographic work, transgressive frames that place us in front of an accurate speech that provides an enormous sense of humor in the face of the intricate movement of life.
