Soledad Córdoba. Rito XXXII. Trilogía del alma, 2019

Soledad Córdoba (Avilés, 1977), artista y doctora en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Su formación e investigación artística ha sido apoyada a través de becas como Beca Leonardo a Investigadores y Creadores Culturales 2017 de la Fundación BBVA y estancias con residencia en París  (Cité  Internationale  Universitaire  de  París),  Londres  (TATE  Britain,  The  Hyman  Kreitman Research Centre), Madrid (Casa de Velázquez) y Barcelona (Hangar, Centre de produció d’arts visuals i multimédia). Su trayectoria artística está avalada por diversos premios de Fotografía y Artes Plásticas cabe resaltar  entre  otros, el primer  premio  de  Fotografía  El  Cultural  del  diario  El  Mundo,  el  primer premio de Artes Plásticas de la Fundación Universidad Complutense, el Certamen de Artes Plásticas de la UNED y el Certamen Jóvenes Creadores del Ayuntamiento de Madrid.

"En Trilogía del alma: Renacimiento, el cuerpo de Soledad Córdoba, elemento central de toda su obra, se funde con el desierto como un organismo animado, como región irreductible donde explorar diferentes estados del alma (génesis de sus visiones poéticas). El desierto abismal es contemplado y habitado desde un sentimiento ambivalente de angustia y gozo. La conciencia de la superioridad de la naturaleza llevaría a la artista a preguntarse por los enigmas primordiales, por los estados del alma explorados en su obra anterior (Devastación) y ampliados en este nuevo trabajo (Trilogía del alma). En el conjunto de sus visiones poético-performáticas gravitan los símbolos que construyen su mitología personal: las series de fotografías, vídeos y dibujos dialogan entre sí unidas con un “hilo solar”, un hilo - oro y silencioso, un velo negro de guipur. Las piedras son su conexión y, ellas, los personajes femeninos, desean ser piedra o vivir en ellas. Son expresión universal del alma caleidoscópica; de la mujer peregrina, guerrera, maga; de la mujer trascendida, purificada, renacida". (Zara Fernández de Moya)

His artistic career is endorsed by various awards for Photography and Plastic Arts, among others, it is worth highlighting the first prize for Photography El Cultural from the newspaper El Mundo, the first prize for Plastic Arts from the Complutense University Foundation, the Plastic Arts Contest of the UNED and the Young Creators Contest of the Madrid City Council.

“In the Trilogy of the Soul: Rebirth, Soledad Córdoba’s body -which is a central element in all of her work- fuses with the desert as a living organism, an implacable region where the genesis of her poetic visions occur to explore different states of the soul. The abysmal desert is contemplated and inhabited with an ambivalent sentiment of anguish and bliss. The awareness of the superiority of nature leads the artist to question the primordial enigmas, the conditions of the soul explored in her previous body of work (Devastation) and are expanded in this new project (Trilogy of the Soul). In her poetic-performatic visions, the symbols that build her personal mythology gravitate. Every series of these photographs, videos and drawings are dialoguing with each other, linked with a «solar thread», a gold and silent thread, a guipure black veil. They are joined by stones and the protagonists want to be stone or live in them. They are a universal expression of the kaleidoscopic soul, of the pilgrim woman, warrior, magician, of the transcended, purified, and reborn woman. (Zara Fernández de Moya)
