Jerry Uelsmann (Detroit, 1934 – Gainesville, 2022) ha dedicado gran parte de su vida a la transformación del lenguaje fotográfico, restándole énfasis a su función como documento y convirtiéndolo en un medio capaz de reinventar la realidad. Uelsmann mantiene un estricto apego a las técnicas puramente analógicas del cuarto oscuro y es reconocido como uno de los pioneros de la manipulación de la imagen. Este gran maestro del fotomontaje crea sus fotografías mediante la integración de múltiples negativos y procesos de revelado, fusionando lo subjetivo y lo objetivo en una única imagen. Su influencia se ha dejado notar en un gran número de artistas y fotógrafos. Su obra está presente en numerosas colecciones internacionales.

Jerry Uelsmann (Detroit, 1934 – Gainesville, 2022) has dedicated much of his life to the transformation of photographic language, detracting from its role as a document and turning it into a means capable of reinventing reality. Uelsmann maintains a strict attachment to the purely analogic techniques of the dark room and is recognized as one of the pioneers of image manipulation. This great master of photomontage creates his photographs by integrating multiple negatives and development processes, fusing the subjective and the objective into a single image. His influence has been noticed in many artists and photographers and his work is present in numerous international collections.
